Who does what
The decisions that are yours
We advise; you decide. These points are always your call, and they are marked as your decision on your portal’s Timeline:- Approving the buyer list before anyone is contacted
- Choosing which buyers go through to the second round
- Choosing the proposal to accept and signing the letter of intent
- Agreeing the final terms of the purchase agreement
How we keep you informed
- Your client portal is the home for the sale. It shows the current phase, the next milestone, our open requests and every document we prepare.
- A weekly email from your deal lead summarizes what is open and what is coming up.
- Mentions in the portal. When we need something from you on a specific item, we mention you in its comments and you receive an email.
- Phone. Anything urgent, or anything better discussed than written down, we call.
What helps most
1
Tell us early about anything that changes
Tell us promptly about a significant customer loss, a key departure, a legal claim or a material change in trading. Early disclosure gives us time to assess the implications, prepare the evidence and decide how to address the issue with buyers. A surprise late in diligence can weaken confidence and put agreed terms under pressure.
2
Keep to the dates we agree
Each request and draft has a date. Delays can affect the timetable buyers are working to, and a process that keeps its momentum is easier to manage to a conclusion.
3
Send what you have, not what you wish you had
Documents don’t need polishing before you send them. If something doesn’t exist, tell us. That is useful information too.
4
Send buyers to us
If a buyer contacts you directly, be polite and refer them to us. Conversations about price and terms should go through one channel.
